- Put distilled water in crockpot and add in a few drops on essential oils appropriate for your skin type. I like to combine lavender, ylang ylang, chamomile and patchuli or sandalwood essential oils. Lavender essential oil is relaxing and can also balance out moisture levels in the skin. Ylang ylang helps to create mental and emotional balance and possibly inhibits pigmentation. Chamomile increases moisture and reduces inflammation. Patchouli is wonderful for reducing pain and inflammation while sandalwood has moisturizing properties.
- Add rolled white towels to crockpot. Let the towels warm up on high, then reduce to warm.
- Light your candles and dim the lights.
- Remember to sip champagne between each step!
- Get balanced: Remove one warm hand towel from the crockpot. Wrap the towel around your face from under your chin to your forehead. Inhale. Press the warm towel into your skin. Do some deep breathing. This step helps me relax and prepares my skin for cleansing. Remove.
- Cleanse: I love a cleansing balm or oil cleanser that is aromatic and deep cleansing at the same time. So I gravitate to Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm. Scoop a nickel size dollop into into your palm and warm the cleanser between your hands. Take a moment and cup your hands over your face and inhale. This cleanser just takes me away. (The scent is so beautiful you will reap beni first from inhaling the scent and from the cleansing.) Press the cleanser into your skin. Take your time and enjoy the scent and the pressure of your hands on your skin. Next massage the cleanser into your skin — around your eyes, down your neck and all of your face. Remove with a small face towel.
- Peel: I love an enzyme peel for my exfoliating process during a facial. One of my favorites is June Jacobs Perfect Pumpkin Peeling Enzyme Masque. Apply to face and let the enzymes do their job of digesting dead skin. Leave on for about 10 minutes under steam. Cover your eyelids with cotton rounds dipped in the green tea. Try the Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Pro Facial Steamer as this micro-steam purifies your skin unlike holding your head over a pot of boiling water. Remove every trace of the peel with gauze.
- Tone skin: I prefer to spray an essence or mist as opposed to traditional toner. My current obsession is Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist. This lovely mist just continues the spa feel of the home facial. Let the mist dry.
- Serum: Since I have already peeled and exfoliated my skin, I want to add hydration back. This is the time to massage in a serum appropriate for your skin type. I currently have OZNaturals Hyaluronic Acid Facial Serum in rotation. Just a dropper is enough for my entire face. This is a perfect choice because the hyaluronic acid will penetrate extremely well after exfoliation.
- Mask: I’m on a mission to keep my skin as firm as possible so I’m loving Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Mask. I apply a thick layer of this mask over my entire face and neck. Dip cotton in the green tea, squeeze out excess and put one over each eye. Take a 10-15 minute nap! Remove with a towel from the crockpot.
- Moisturize: Keeping the firming mission going, I finish with Clarins Extra-Firming Wrinkle Control Regenerating Night Cream for my face and Paula’s Choice Clinical Ceramide-Enriched Firming Eye Cream all around my eye area.
- Seal in moisturizer: Using the BeautyBio Rose Quartz Roller I seal in my moisturizer and eye cream while at the same time performing lymphatic drainage around my eyes and in my face and neck.
